Summer! Fishing, and Indiana

Jim and the boys headed up to Krylie Pond in June to fish and caught a few! They had a blast. Fishing is one of their top fun things to do.

Then we headed out to Indiana for the 4th of July! The boys loved playing with cousins, riding dune buggies, sleeping in tents in Grandma & Grandpa's front bedroom, swimming, fireworks, ETC.!

It was also Walt's birthday! He had been through a lot with his health this year, and it was great to see him doing better and to celebrate with him.

Wyatt loved making "potions" with the cousins and brothers in Grandma & Grandpa's backyard.

A lot of us went to the Creation Museum one day and met Gretchen and the boys there, as they were staying in Cincinnati for the month!

Wyatt loved getting a balloon pumping set.

We went to the Children's Museum with Walt & Judy, Jeff & Lisa and the kids. Lots of fun!

End of school, beginning of summer

Garrett finished first grade! A few of the things he accomplished that year: Math-U-See, Discovering Art Together, a Jewish calendar, Science with Plants, a Bible Notebook. He had an overview of the whole Bible and wrote a few sentences about each story he read.

...And the view of the teacher from the student's view...after having been bequeathed a pizza lacing necklace...

He finished writing his last proverb. He worked hard that year and did a great job!

Last day of school.

Now for some summer fun!
Wade loves riding the lawnmower with daddy! (So do the other boys...)

Wyatt really enjoys shucking corn.

When he unloads the unbreakable from the dishwasher he loves to put them together on the counter in creative ways, stacking them and fitting them and balancing them to make structures.

We loved having Aunt Gretchen to visit at the end of June! We ate at Smashburger and she joined us at church before going to the airport on Sunday.

Yosemite!

Lots of pictures from a fabulously fun week at Yosemite!
Jim took out the back seat and scientifically packed the van so everything would fit. Not an easy task!

Yay! And we're off! The boys, and us, were looking forward to this trip for a long time!

There are my cuties...such great travelers...

We stopped for the night in Reno and the hotel was definitely not worth photographing. But maybe it's worth describing... It was a casino, and it was pretty funny to see the boys' strong reactions to the heavy smoke. Wyatt even shook his fist at the mirrored ceiling at one point. :) The lobby was dirty and had trash like empty beer bottles laying around, we couldn't wait for Jim to get us checked in where he left us because a police officer came over and told us kids couldn't be in that section near alcohol. I got bumped into in the hallway on the way to our room by some people in a little fight over what they were going to do... Yeah, we weren't too thrilled. We got out of there as quickly as we could the next morning.

A lunch stop at this charming little burger stand/house was a treat!

We made it!! Bridal Veil Falls was our first stop.

Getting settled in our Housekeeping Cabin.

We were right next door to Mom & Dad. Mom made some great SCD dinners!

Campfires were a definite highlight for the boys!

We enjoyed a family bike ride with Mom & Dad through what used to be a campground back in the day.

Breathtaking scenery everywhere made me feel so privileged to be in Yosemite. It was great enjoying it with Dad who went up there every year with his family growing up, so had lots of memories to share.

The boys were little troopers bike riding around.

We had fun doing little "shows" for each other at the amphitheater.

Dad sang, "I'd rather have Jesus."

...and did a good old fashioned Grandpa Cox Lion Hunt!

Sword fights, renditions of "Steel Glasses," and other fun activities carried the program through.

Jim did a great job setting up lights, etc.

Garrett's Yosemite or Bust sign was fun!

Happy Isles with the fam

I thought this was a good picture when I took it, but later asked Wyatt what he was thinking about. He said there was a big spider in the tree. :)

This weather station fascinated the boys, especially Garrett.

Indian Village

Okay, S'mores were probably the best part of the trip to the boys!

Nerf gun practice with Grandpa. :)

Mom and Dad watched the boys one morning so Jim and I could bike ride together. So nice!

We went to Mirror Lake and sniffed around for the Indian Caves Jim remembers exploring.

Jim made some amazing breakfasts! Bear sign one morning for Dad...

We found the Indian Caves! It was a pretty fun place to explore.

The amazing thing is this bear shape from smoke! See it?

Yosemite falls was beautiful and so refreshing with the cool spray!

We had ice cream on the last night with Grandpa at Curry Village.

Ahhh....vacation.......

The boys helped Mom and Dad and were their "dogs" in the back of the truck as we all got packed up.

On the way out, we went to see a grove of Giant Sequoias. It was a grueling hike down hill 1 mile and then back up the mile. The boys did amazingly, and it was really fun to see the huge trees...and huge pine cones!!

Poor little Wade threw up in the car afterwards from the exertion! :( It was one of those vacation moments... But we all laughed about it and he was fine after that. We had a looong drive home, a big thunderstorm in Northern Colorado, and finally pulled in! A trip we will always remember!
