December Fun

When we got back from Indiana, we had a wonderful time at my BSF leader's home making homemade bread! We were studying Jesus is the Bread of Life in homeschool, and I thought of Judy, who has made bread from scratch (even grinding her own wheat!), for years. She graciously offered to have us over and show us how. She showed us how many nutrients with unique purposes there are in each kernel of wheat and why whole wheat is so much better for us. There are about 7 important nutrients stripped out of white flour! So when we think of Jesus as the Bread of Life, it really takes on more meaning when we see how much is provided for us in each kernel of wheat.

The boys decorated our tree this year!

We enjoyed getting out many nostalgic decorations, like this musical angel candle holder from Great Gran. \

We hit the zoo on a warmish day! It was great with light crowds, and lots of up-close views of animals.

This seal definitely wasn't a morning seal. He just sat there yawning, eyes half-lidded for a loooong time. He decided not to take part in the show.

The tiger was up and about.

We enjoyed the elephant passage show.

Thanksgiving Trip to Indiana

The time came for our annual Thanksgiving to Indiana! With a last stop at Smashburger under our belts, we were on our way...

A trip to the Children's Museum with the Yankey cousins is always fun. Wyatt remembered the basement area we didn't get to see last time, so we stopped there first and they made kid-sized sculptures like the huge one up above.

Wyatt and Fiona enjoying lunchtime conversation. :)

Carousel!

Annika, Fiona, and Wyatt

Ronan, Wade, and Garrett

There is a great water area that Garrett especially loves.

Digging in the construction area was fun for Wade.

Fun glasses!

Wyatt chatting on the phone with Grandma Cox in CA.

Uncle Tom gave the kids stomp rockets, which they love!

Happy Thanksgiving! Let the feasting begin.

It was Walt & Judy's 50th anniversary on November 20th! Lisa put together a nice spread.

Jim showed me a classic Danish figurine he likes.

A little game time...

The boys loved petting the kitty.

Ronan and Garrett had fun playing legos together.

Kids' table!

Family dinner at Five Guys before we left.

Grandma sent us home with Silly Putty and other fun activities - thanks Judy!

We stopped at the "largest truck stop in the USA" in Iowa. They  had some nice displays, including this classic truck.

Tired boys.

Awake boys ready for a half day of driving!

It was wonderful being with family...now to get home, get our tree, and get ready for Christmas!

11th Anniversary at Mimi's!
